General

I have a diet, is that an issue?

Not at all. Our chefs are very happy to meet your diet preferences. Wether it is a gluten free or vegan diet, we will serve you the best we can. Please let your preferences know before arrival through the booking process.

What is the average age during the coaching weeks?

Usually we have a mix of all ages. We would say that the average age is between 25 and 55.

I am travelling by myself, am I the only solo traveler?

We usually have a mix of people traveling by themselves, couples and group of friends. Because groups are small and we care a lot about personal attention, people say that they feel very welcome and comfortable when traveling solo.

When does the coaching program start and end?

There is no coaching scheduled on the arrival and departure day. The coaching and program starts on the day after the arrival day, so on Monday. This means you can arrive and depart any time you want on the arrival and departure day. On the arrival day, we just have a lunch and dinner scheduled for the ones who are already there. On the departure day, we only have breakfast scheduled.

Surf & Weather

What wetsuit thickness should I bring?

In Spring, both the water temperature as the outside temperature during early mornings can still be quite chilly. If you have many wetsuits, we recommend you to bring a 3/2 (Patagonia R1 or R2) and a 4/3 or 5/3 (Patagonia R2 or R3) with you. If you are coming at the end of April or early May, booties can be convenient as well. If you only have one wetsuit, we recommend to bring a 4/3 mm or Patagonia R2. In autumn, the water temperature is warmer. A 3/2 or R1 should be enough, although mornings and late afternoons can be fresh. We recommend you to also bring a 4/3 or R2 just to be sure.

Can I rent a board and/or wetsuit?

Yes, you can. We have a beautiful quiver of longboards in all kind of sizes and models. During a week with us you can decide to stick with one favorite or to test them all out. Renting a wetsuit is also possible with us.

What is the weather like in Northern Spain?

Northern Spain has more in common with Ireland than most of us think. Not only are the ‘Cantabri’ a Celtic folk, also the weather is much lookalike. Sure, it can be really nice. But it can also be quite crisp, windy and rainy. That is why the grass is always greener here! Make sure you bring a beanie, hoody and warm jacket with you.

Can I bring my shortboard?

Of course you can! The waves are in general suitable for both longboards and shortboards, however our coaching is specifically developed for longboarding. That said, during the coaching sessions we recommend to only use a longboard.

Transportation

I want to come by public transport from the airport, how do I arrange this?

The best bus company is Alsa.es

We recommend to book in advance, especially in weekends. Make sure you have enough time between your arrival time at the airport and the departure time of the bus. If you arrive in Bilbao, you first need to take a bus from the airport to the central bus station in Bilbao. This bus departs every 10 minutes or so and takes around 20 minutes. There is no need to book this one in advance. The location of the bus stop is at the exit of the airport. It is a very small airport, so it is easy to find. From the central bus station you can take the direct Alsa bus towards Cabezon de la Sal. We are happy to pick you up from there and drive you to the accommodation.
